but it is more an intellectual exercise than anything else. Computer simulation and modeling of the quenching process is interesting, but it is not reality. Reality is that every one of them (katana blades) is slightly different in mass, sectional geometry, clay layup, and probably some things I am not fully aware of, and thus each is slightly different in the quenching as well. Anyway, the article you posted the link to should be read, but I wouldn't take it too literally.
