Post Antique Japanese Sword Guard (Tsuba) For Sale...

I am selling a antique Japanese sword guard from my collection of Japanese antique art. Here is the write up of my research about the tsuba. Let me know via PM or email if you have any other questions or need additional photos. I accept USPS money order and PayPal. Thanks for viewing.

Item Name: Tsuba signed Masafusa (正芳)
Japanese Title: 峠の図鍔銘正芳 (tōge no zu tsuba mei masafusa)
    Material: Iron (tetsu 鉄)
    Age: Late Edo (1770-1868) (江戸時代)
    Size: 6.5✕6.0✕0.6cm
    Signature: Masafusa (正芳)
    Shape: Nagamaru-gata (長丸形)
    Openings: Ryohitsu ana (両櫃孔)
    Surface Finish: Migaki Ji (磨地)
    Attachment: None
This tsuba is a small iron tsuba with mountain landscape designs done in high relief. There are gold and silver inlays to highlight different parts of the landscape design. The overall style of the tsuba points to Aizu Shoami (会津正阿弥) with its use of high relief and inlay work. The shape of the Kozuka-hitsu (小柄) & Kogai-hitsu ana (笄櫃穴) and Nakago ana (中心穴) are also very characteristic of Aizu Shoami school. The gold inlays are in good condition but some of the silver inlays have worn off. The tsuba is finished with Ryohitsu Shitate (両櫃仕立).

    Price: $160.00 USD
