    For sale: 1893 Swedish Cavalry Sword

    A cavalry sword from Sweden, most probably for cuirassiers regiments because of its massive size and weight. Condition is good: the blade is in perfect shape; there is some sort of discoloration or brown spots on the grip leather. Ferrule is a little loose.

    Markings on both sides of the blade:
    -E.Svalling, Eskilstuna + GM + HK under a crown
    -KPR/K5 + No.38

    and on scabbard:
    -K7 no99 + GM under a crown
    -E.Svalling, Eskilstuna on the drag.

    Measurements:
    45'' overall;
    37'' blade;
    43.5'' long sword outside of scabbard

    Weight: around 1390grams (approx. 3lbs)

    Price is 320$. Shipping cost is 25$ for Canada and 40$ for the USA.

    Hi,

    I'm sorry to ask a question but would you know if this was the type of cavalry sword used in Sweden during the time around WW2? I am asking because my grandfather was in the Swedish cavalry at the time, and I have the only pieces of his cavalry gear in our family (he passed away when I was only 7) and would like to see if I can locate a blade of the type he wore. I tried looking on the internet for the blades Sweden used at the time but got a big list of blades that were quite a bit older and nothing else. If you have a moment, and you know the answer or could help me find out who to ask, it would be very much appreciated. Also, would there be anyone you can recommend for repairs to the blade as well as resharpening and blade polish. My own expertise is exclusively in Japanese blades and combat mechanisms so western blades, even those from the country I was born in, are quite unfamiliar to me. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

    Edit: Thanks to a knowledgeable fellow, this sword is not from a Cuirassier regiment but from the K7 Hussar regt (later incorporated with elements of the K5 Hussars).
