    Question Need help identifying a WWII / Korean War sword my grandfather brought back.

    I am just looking for as much information I can find on a sword. He told me that he traded two packs of cigarettes for the sword when he was in the Army. See pictures below. I tried to get as much detail as I could. It might take a while to load.

    It's definitely a WWII Japanese officers sword. I just picked up a very similar one.

    Could you find how to date it? How much did ya pay for it?

    Sometime the Kanji on the blade tang will tell you. It would require research. These tend to trade in the 400-1000 range depending on condition and maker.
