Cool ID on a Weyersberg Kirschbaum

Need help identifying this Weyersberg Kirschbaum sword: era, issue, branch, etc. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!

    Overall Length: 36 1/4"
    Blade Length: 31"

    Wire-wrapped sharkskin grip
Plain pommel is engraved with an unusual (to me) monogram - not sure if that's for the mfr, owner, military branch or what.

    Name: Sword 1 (1).jpg

Size: 101.9 KB

Also, general question: Does a shiny blade mean that it is chrome-plated?

It is an Austrian model. The monogram is a wax seal, so you will have to read in in reverse.

I take the seal as reading AK.
