    1796 British Infantry Officer Sword

This is a very nice British 1796 officers sword. Hilt, grip and blade are tight, the hinged guard is intact and works as it should. The un-marked blade has developed a lovely salt and pepper finish over time that gives it a unique light frosted gray appearance. The grip is silver foil over wood with some peeling. There is still some gold wash around the acanthus leaves and around the twin butterfly guards. The sword is solid and the blade has a excellent flex/ temper. This sword has a fine airy balance for all it's beefy single edged blade. I should add, that the darker portion of the blade in the third pic is merely a trick of the light. The silver gray sheen in the first pic represents the surface of the blade for it's entire length. A fine piece of British/Napoleonic history for a very nice price of $350.....$15 dollar shipping fee in the U.S. European buyers $35 for shipping outside the U.S.
