VISS is back!

Registration is now open for the 2015 Vancouver International Swordplay Symposium (VISS) to be held March 27-29 at Academie Duello in Vancouver, BC, Canada! The 3-day symposium will include events which represent a range of Western martial arts traditions. VISS is only held once every two years, so take advantage of the opportunity while you can! Starting today, you can register here:

The theme of VISS 2015 is "The Pursuit of Mastery: Live, Move, Think, Fight." Each of these pillars represent an element of mastery:
  • Live: Learn how to manage your lifestyle to live the life of a martial artist!
  • Move: Learn to move masterfully from the ground up. Fundamental biomechanics are at the core of every fighting technique.
  • Think: Supplement your training by learning the history and context of the Western martial arts.
  • Fight: Test your skills against resisting opponents! Put all of the pieces together and see your enemies driven before you!

Some of this year's features include:
  • Hands-on workshops with world-renowned instructors from across North America and Europe including 3-day "intensives" focused on a single tradition. Confirmed intensive instructors include Guy Windsor, Christian Tobler, Puck Curtis, and Eric Myers.
  • A lecture track for those who want to understand the intellectual side of historical European martial arts and the historical figures who lived - and died - by the sword
  • Private lessons for students who want to get the most out of their VISS training opportunities
  • Master class workshops for experienced practitioners
  • Saturday Night gala featuring live music and swordplay!

All skill levels are welcome! Academie Duello will be providing rental equipment for those who don't have their own, and carpools and free billeting will be available to keep costs down for out-of-town attendees.
