1827 Rifles Wilkinsons Best sword showing Indian use

    Hi all

I have this Wilkinsons Best 1827 model sword it has etching although very worn and the scabbard has two stamps signifying 1915 and 1917 .On the leather there is a date of 1931 whilst the blade has no number except the IS mark and a 1929 date .There is nothing that points to any regiment or particular officer on the blade or Scabbard so I am assuming for some reason it passed into Indian service after WW1 possibly from a British officer from a Ghurka regiment .

As by the Hexagon Proof mark it is a Wilkinson BEST sword and as such would expect a number . as you say there is NO number and the other official markings I think iy may be a best sword diverted for an India Stores contract order,

    Just surmising
