FS: An 1845 Pattern by Thurkle

As can be seen, the hilt has a nice even patina to its brass and a superbly moulded royal cypher sits in the cartouche. Everything is tight with no looseness anywhere, and the etched blade and the steel scabbard are straight. The blade has a superbly crisp fuller. There is a noticeable repair to the blade at the centre of percussion, with a golden material visible along a crack (the crack only goes half way through the blade). Of course, the romantic in me thinks this damage happened in combat and that it’s a period repair made out on the Empire's frontier, but this is entirely speculation of course. Otherwise, the blade is in good condition besides pitting at the final fifth and some at the ricasso. More information on request. Over 18s only, please.

    £175, plus postage.
