Is it advisable to silver-solder a tang extension?

Hello again. I'm contemplating getting one of these blades and I'd like to add about an inch to the tang (in the form of some threaded steel rod) if possible. Since welding is beyond my capacity, would it work to just grind the ends of the tang and the extension at a shallow angle, put them in heavy clamps as heat sinks, and silver-solder them together, or would the bond be too weak for normal use?
They groan'd, they stirr'd, they all uprose,
Ne spake, ne mov'd their eyes:
It had been strange, even in a dream
To have seen those dead men rise.

Silver solder is fairly strong and would work. Do not grind shallow angles as this is done for welding to allow full penetration, silver solder will flows into small gaps and mating surfaces.
I would cut/file the tang and threaded rod at a 45 degree angle. The more mating surface the better. First tin each part with silver solder then join them and apply heat, soon as the silver solder melts remove the heat and you're done.

    Thanks, that's reassuring.

I suppose I may have chosen the wrong words... By "shallow angle" I mean like a scarf joint, so as to provide a lot of contact area.
