Interesting. So if a crannog is a man made island, in what way is this village not a large crannog? I'm feeling particularly stupid today, but I haven't understood the difference. Is it just bigger, or built on stilts rather than rubble, or round the loch on the peat?

Hello Vaurien, not built on a man made island but built on natural peat mounds in the loch.

Thanks David, it must have been that I was reading the forum at 5 in the morning that I missed that distinction. Thanks again!
