    Need help identifying a sword

    First time poster here. Not a sword collector but while helping my father clean up the basement, we found a sword. All we know is that his friend's grandfather gave it to him about 30-35 years ago. I hope this is the right part of the forum to post it in, here are some pictures:

    Looks like the remains of a civilian smallsword that has lost it's knucklebow. Circa 1740 or there abouts I'd say

    Do you have any idea of a value or is there a place where I could check the value?

    Smallsword c. 1700 I think based on the heavily modeled quillon and longer grip. Value is always a subjective matter but it obviously has seen better days.
