    "iron shuangjian"

    There has been some conversation about "militia jian" as short heavy battlefield examples of jian from the late Qing. This set is another example of a similar approach to jian coming from provincial villages, in this case from the north of China. Jian of this type are stylistically different from militia jian but otherwise a quite diverse group. Many are much older with some examples coming from the end of the Ming dynasty. These are fairly typical examples except for being double.

    If I remember correctly, they are a bit over a pound a piece with 24 inch blades and 30 inches overall. They are a bit longer than others I have seen.
