FS: Michael Bell Katana, polished with Habaki

For sale is my Michael Bell cable katana, polished and ready for mounting. The blade moves very quickly and feels great in the hand. Habaki is made by Patrick Hastings, which is very nice. Blade polished by Rose. The hamon is really interesting on this one. You can see small streaks moving diagonally, it’s hard to explain, but I tried to capture it in the photographs. As with practically all cable blades, there is a small section that has a portion of the welding showing. This can be seen in the pics.

    Specs:
    27.5 inch nagasa,
    848 grams with habaki,
    813 grams without habaki,
    30mm wide at habaki,
    6mm thick at habaki,
    20 inches wide at kissaki,
    4mm thick at kissaki,
    8 7/8 inch nakago,
    .5 inch sori.

One thing that is important to mention is that the blade suffered minor damag while in transit from
the post office. It was mailed with the kissaki sticking out of tube that it was shipped in. A very small portion of the kissaki was chipped, and I did a little bit of sharpening on a waterstone to
even the damage out a bit (also visible in the pics). The blade is still in great condition.

I made a tsuka core which originally had fittings fitted to it, but I will be keeping those. The
“saya” is also made by me, it is in a very rough stage of development. I made it basically to have
something to store the blade in besides a newspaper saya. These are included.

I am looking for $2600 shipped within the CONUS. Please PM me if you are interested. Although I need the money, I really like the blade so it's hard to part. Paypal or wire preferred, but I will also accept a postal money order. Thanks.

After a lot of thought and my current situation, this is back up for sale.

    Glamour shot:

Here is another pic of the tip:

Price is the same, $2600 insured with USPS overnight shipping. More pics are in the first post. Thanks!

The streak patterns looks like the type usually left when a smith has used a twisted cable for the steel of the blade. Here are some examples of blades made by using cables for the steel. These were made by Jesus Hernandez:

    Thanks for the compliments, guys

For the record, Michael Bell didn't send me the blade in this shape. Every craftsman involved sent it out the way Michael did, taped onto a board of wood with a screw through the nakago ana. It's more of just a freak accident with the post office, which I had never had an issue with before.

    These things just happen sometimes

Luckily the damage is very minimal.

Reduced to $2400. Also. Prefered payment is paypal +3%. But I'd take a cashiers check as well.
