    Joss,

I have owned three of the ECMAS tameshigiri katana. Years ago I bought the first prototype that came in from Japan. It is the sword pictured on the web site. Bob had to borrow it back to get the photos done. It is a truly awesome cutter that gained more respect than I did. Everyone calls it "The magic sword". It has a 2.55 shaku hefty blade. In addition to tameshigiri, I have also used it for kata and kumitachi, but it is a very heavy katana.

I custom ordered the second katana. 2.4 shaku with a hi. It came in looking so great that I could not bring myself to use it. I decided to save it until I reached a high enough skill level to not bend the lighter blade. It felt more like my Iaito than my tameshigiri katana.

This year I purchased a third katana from ECMAS to replace the first. After years of putting in and taking out small bends, it started to show signs of metal fatigue. I had decided that I had still not reached the target skill level for the second sword and put it up for sale to fund the purchase of the third. The third katana the same length but much lighter than the first, and has a balance point closer to the tsuka. I like it even more than the first.

Animo
