It looks like a Jambaya (sp?) the curved knife that most of the moslem world's males traditionally carry around. I'm guessing the blade is 12"-16" long. The handle is a bit different; smaller and thinnner. It is neither turkish nor Arabian, possibly afghani, by design, and to me, it looks likes it is a rather poorly made, modern piece meant for the local tourist trade.
