What is CombatCon?
CombatCon is the brainchild of several Western Martial Artists/Historical European Martial Artists who wanted to gather people from all manners of backgrounds and interests with one really awesome thing in common — they all love fighting! From comic book fans to movie stars, from role-players to weapons makers, CombatCon is a melting-pot of people who enjoy martial arts, sword fighting, high-octane action, and good, old fashioned fun. Specifically, CombatCon focuses on the Western Martial Arts (WMA)/Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), so you’ll find knights in armor, elves with bows and short swords, longsword experts teaching lightsaber technique, Wild West Steampunks learning the finer points of fisticuffs and walking cane defense, knife masters displaying their deadly art, and everything in between.
One important and fun element of CombatCon is its intimate feel and direct access to featured guests and world class martial arts instructors. The convention is kept to under 1,750 people so you won’t get lost in the crowd! There are many opportunities to hang out with some truly amazing people — from actors to fight directors to authors to artists to knife throwers and whip crackers. What’s CombatCon’s Mission?
The mission of CombatCon is very simple. We want to provide a national platform for Western Martial Arts/Historical European Martial Arts and showcase the best that WMA/HEMA has to offer. At the same time, we want to create an atmosphere where our participants can have the time of their lives, hang out with old friends, make new friends, meet our amazing featured guests, and take part in all kinds of controlled mayhem.
