Hey Kirk I was just reading your "charts ancient swords" sticky, which at the bottom, you posted that, you would be willing to send larger versions of these images to those that wanted them. If this offer is still there, then I would be very grateful if you would email them to thanks in advance.

    Dear Mr. Spencer,

My, name is Jef Pinceel. I'm a master student in conservation and restauration of archaeological artefacts, at the university of Antwerp, Belgium.

This year I have treated several Merovingian finds, including some saxes, a francisca, an umbo etc. I have also cleaned and treated a Merovingian long sax (excavated at a burial site, dated by C14 in the 6th and 7th century AD). I find it very difficult however to get a good understanding of the typologie of this kind of saxes.

    My email adress is
I would love to hear your opinion on this object. If you send me an email I can send you some pictures and a drawing.

Thank you very much in advance.

    Best regards,
    Jef Pinceel

Two swords
Lit in Eden’s flame
One of iron and one of ink
To place within a bloody hand
One of God or one of man
Our souls to one of
Two eternities
