    *Looks down*

    Guess I can't be a ninja then...

    But I don't mind being a pirate.

How much booty does someone need to plunder to get their hands on that sword is what I'm wondering... arrr!

    Gorgeous.

Do you use any kind of fixture to get your angles set properly? I've moved back into doing knives since I got my new forge and smithy all fixed up, and I keep making...

    Mill setup.

Tapers aren't really all that hard, since you can get angle blocks down to 1/4 degree or less if you want precision setup, or you can simply make a fixture and shim it.

    I'm making a prop sword...

    LuSt.

You should forge six more, and name them the Deadly Sins.

    I'll take Lust.

    I lust for that blade.

    ZOMG.

    Sticky: Eureka!

I had a Eureka moment last nigh. Coated a disk of steel with my last handful of refractory and dropped it in the bottom of my forge fire pot. Woo!

Raised the fire up about an inch and a half, so...

    Sticky: I would posit

that one could in fact measure the CoP of a sword blade by striking the edge of the sword, while suspended from nigh on massless and frictionless pivots (i.e. very fine thread) horizontally, with the...

Screw off, I'm just having fun!

    :-p

But honestly, this is what I can contribute.

    Not exactly.

I did a chisel a while back and posted it on here, and did a similar single-cord wrap in white. The effect was that the 1/2 inch diameter handle wound up just shy of 3/4 of an inch, maybe 5/16. The...

    Eh, kinda.

Lightwave 3D is nice, but when I tell it smooth, it smooths ALOT.

As rendered, it kinda just looks like a bit of a divot in the blade.

as executed, it'll pretty much have the cross section...

    Hilt Mockup!

Here's the pommel w/o onyx inlay, and the leather cord-wrapped tsuka/grip. As I said before, it's japanesque, not japanese. Think Ikea.

    Yep

Just don't start with a 10 pound chunk of aluminum and hog the whole thing out.

Maybe split it up into a few pieces so you can use a saw to cut the profile of the wings, for example, out of a flat...
