Thanks Will, all makes sense now. It was for sale on Ebay for over £630 and they were prepared to sell for £550 so definitely not a bargain for a fake! I did hear a lot of the swords were made in...
Sorry now i'm confused! So the pictures i sent above; is that a modern Wilkinson (late 20th Century), made in new methods, so not "authentic"? Or is it a complete copy not made by Wilkinson,...
Thanks, i'll let him know. A friend saw it and was going to buy, so asked my advice. What are the tell tale signs on this? I get asked a lot about RN Swords, as i have my own (verified a true one...
Any help appreciated, still learning........! :-)

That's a great help thanks! would you be able to do the same for the other ones I have i i upload those too? I'll take some close up photos first and look myself before uploading.
Grip does look plastic actually when you zoom in. Not sure where my friend bought it but grateful for any advice on value, as he last left the RN now and wants to sell this.

Hi All,
I will take some close up photos next weekend as i'm on holiday. I would say the grip isn't plastic having held it, but open to all advice. More photos to come :-)
Thank you Ben, do you have any details on them? I still can't find them in a google search and interested in the history of the sword so i can get it insured etc

Hi,
I have 3 1827 patter Royal Navy Swords and want to ID them. two have Brass HW proof slugs, the last one has a Brass proof slug with either JM or TM or SM??? Can't decide which it is! Any help...
Robert, please see below. Can you help please? Gary
John and David,
Hope this helps:
The proof mark is "HW". There is no number on the back edge of the blade like a Wilkinson should have (I have one myself). The makers name is "Crown Swords...
Robert
I've just acquired a sword with Crown of London and Queens' crowns on the blade but the proofmark says HW. Any ideas?
