Hi. This is a test of the new forum software.
So far so good? I have been familiar with this version via the Civil War venue and also more recently Blade Forums.
Let's look at attachments.
I like it, very cool and handy.
one more for other file types
Sooo still a threshold on size for anything other than a jpeg, jpg, gif shrink pic routine. Got it.
PDFS and other docs also at the 100kb
Dragging old files is working but uploading new from my drive is now not working.
It might just be me but my firewall is showing a huge incoming packet when trying to upload to SFI either from my drive or a website url, with nothing getting sent out to the server here.
It could be just me?
Glen,
I think the only option is to first upload the image to your own image gallery. Once in your gallery, it can be dropped in a thread or post.

Well, I was able to upload directly Sunday evening (all but the bowies and sabre above that were dragged) and not today (for whatever reason).
I had also been poking around in adding images to a new gallery and as before, had maxed out that available space (for me). If there is a maximum on adding attachments at all, that might also be the cause but direct uploads (add files top right manage attachments page) were working Sunday.
My pages and pages of attachments already onboard are also often appearing as just question marks instead of the thumbs themselves.
I'll try from a different browser as well because I am curious what we look like in Mozilla and IE
I can take some screenshots at some point if it would help.
Yes, they were uploading to the gallery to then be dragged but are not uploading to the gallery today (for me)
Cheers

These are not large files but auto compression had also been working the other night.

chex Mozilla
Well, it did work from Mozilla but wanted a plug in download. Maybe that is my Opera issue but it did work the other day. This did upload without needing to drag it down to the task bar.
Cheers

have asked Ed to have a look at the wonky image hosting. Stay tuned....

Hi.
Right now I'm using Firefox as my default browser. Is the problem involving Firefox? IE? Opera? I'm not seeing any problems but if the problem is happening with Opera user(s) then I can always install Opera and give it a go.
I'm going to go ahead and test attachments using IE and Safari.
Ie:
Testing uploading an attachment using Apple's Safari browser.
Sorry but I'm not seeing a problem here.
I'll give it a try via Firefox now, and Chrome when I am home...
There are a few different ways to upload a picture or attach one to a thread post/comment.
1. Users have access to a 'picture gallery' or 'album' through their profile.
a. click on "My Profile"
b. left hand side of the window will show an "Albums" section. Click on the name of the Album
c. on the toolbar you will see 'Upload Pictures', click on that.
d. click on 'Add Files'
e. click on 'Select Files'
f. navigate to the appropriate directory, select the file desired and click on 'Open'
g. repeat as necessary until all files are selected
h. click on 'Upload Files'
i. click on 'Done'
j. you will now see the images you selected for upload across the top of the Album, now click on 'Save Changes'
... the image(s) are now permanently in your picture gallery or album
To use in a thread post/comment simply left click on the image you want to reference:
a. click on the image
b. on the lower right hand side are two entries:
b.1. Picture URL: This is the URL for that specific image that can be used in any application or copy and paste into the address bar of a browser.
b.2. BB Code: This is the BBCode that can be used directly as-is in any post or comment. Just copy and paste it into what you are writing.
like this:
2. As an attachment you can simply:
a. scroll down the edit window and click on 'Manage Attachments'
b. click on 'Add Files'
c. click on 'Browse'
d. navigate to the appropriate directory, select the file desired and click on 'Open'
f. click on 'Upload'
g. click on 'Done'

Note: I'm using pictures of fruit as an example because I had these pictures easily available on my HD .... don't ask.![]()
... Ed, I was just going to comment on your apparent obsession with fruit. But then thought 'never mind'.

The manage attachment page seems to be flipping back and forth. Is there a default account set up to check from the regular users side to make sure all the options are working? I know this was an issue with the albums (none listed as an option).
Some I did attach last night never made my attachment gallery but did upload and post ?8^)~
Note new attachments from last night (except the word doc) not hitting my attachment pages. I know i have a mess of them. Single upload worked in Opera on the new uploader but not multiples. IE was not taking them at all for me on the new option but probaly works with the basic option now added to the old way.
Will this attach as a single? Nope not on the new waythis time. Nope, not with the basic uploader either that sat and spun for awhile
I am on dial up, maybe that is it. It was though working like a charm Sunday (for me)
The singles seem working in an intermittent fashion as you can see the system did take the single before trying to add more in a second batch. This was an Opera screenshot but I don't think browsers is the problem (Dale mentioned a "bubble" problem last night elsewhere).
Cheers
Glen
Chrome and attempting multiples from my hard drive.
I guess I'm just special then. I have screenshots of trying on IE and failing.
