    Fencing schools and 'forges'

    Hi all,

I had read somehwere, but cannot remember where, an observation by someone that fencing schools were sometimes/often named 'the forge' or 'the smithy'. This observer continued that this practice was present from Japan to Germany.

Does anyone else know of such a reference, and furthermore is the observation supportable by evidence?

    Cheers,

    Dave
Most of what I understand doesn't make sense to me.

  2. Beppe Nadi's salle in Italy, where his sons Aldo and Nedo Nadi trained, was called "the forge".
