    The Japan, USN, USMC mystery sword

    I think this is another attempt to create an 'budget' US Naval cadet sword. What is not budget is the fish-skin grip. The scabbard mounting are the traditional USMC officer type, without the flower on the drag. Note the number on the blade; it seems to be a US Army serial number.
    There is an 'X' scratched on the scabbard mountings, so at least 10 were made.
    Anyone have any ideas?
