    Help identify sword please

I'm not sure what this is as its from my grandfathers collection that I'm trying to sort through. I've looked it over and can't find any markings on it. I really am clueless when it comes to swords and would really appreciate any insight. Thank you.

AL: Looks like a Bavarian Chevaul Leger or Austrian Hussar, mid-late 19th Century....More pix of the scabbard would help me decide..I lean towards Austrian because of the scabbard.

Here are some more pictures of the scabbard though it is in rough shape.

AL: I am not sure what this one is, all one can say is it looks Austrian or one of the German States that copied Austro-Hungarian Edged Weapons..I will consult the books and get
    back to you....

In the first group of photos, the scabbard looks much longer than the blade. Is this so, or is it just an allusion?

I never noticed that but I measured it and there is about 5" of extra room in the scabbard. Now I believe they don't go together.
