A possible flank officer saber with a Solingen made blade

Hi people, yesterday i bought what i think is a non-regulation british saber based on the 1796 light cavalry saber for an infantry officer. The blade has a P.D.L (Peter Daniel Luneschloss) at the base wich indicates solingen origin. The guard is made of steel and lacks the usual languets. The wire in the grip is a modern copper restoration.

I am a little bit dubious of my acertion due to how simple and undecorated it is, and has no english markings that i am aware of, so i wanted to know if there is something else i could look at to trace its origin.
For the record i found a similar sword made for the same company at arround the same time and its supposedly for the american market.

I can find no photos attached to your thread. I have no idea of your sword but the Spanish in America also used these 1803 pattern swords, the plain bird head pommels with leather wrap grip.Many swords were imported from PDL by Spain and Mexico. I have one in my collection very plain and relic that came from Mexico border area. I relize stories and swords move but read a short piece a couple of years ago on the Spanish use of these toward the end of rule here. I stuck it in a safe place and cannot remember where. Eric

Perhaps one of the British sword guys can correct me but I do not see this sword as a flank officer or 1803 pattern. It looks more like our bird head pommel militia sabers from the federal period. Possibly designed from the 1796 pattern but much shorter, lighter and no hatchet flare at point. Yours even has the Austrian type P guard with a snake skin grip. Perhaps a modern addition. Is the knuckle bow flared near pommel? PDL sold swords everywhere and lots of them. I would think 1820 to 1850 but just a guess on guard style. Maybe one of these Austrian Sword men will come along. Not sure if any of the Austrian styles had the pinned back strap with ears, can't say I remember them using that feature. Eric

The grip covering is modern and the sword looks German late 1800s. Maybe one of the German sword experts will see this.
