    Engraved dirk

    Hi All,

    No pics yet, but I’m looking at a neat engraved Scottish dirk. Details:

    Captain W.B. MacGeorge MC 2nd H.L.I. 30/11/24

    Can anyone confirm an ID on this officer?

    According to the army lists, Capt. W. B. MacGeorge was indeed in the 2nd Battalion of the Highland Light Infantry and a recipient of the Military Cross.

    P.S. Major William Buchanan MacGeorge, M.C., died peacefully at Manor Lodge, Crawley, Hampshire, on December 13, 1954.

    Mac was originally a lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, but transferred to the HLI as a machine-gun corps commander in WW1. Here's his MC citation:
