    Kaiser Fritz Degen

Guys: He died after a few months as Kaiser, so anything with his Cypher is hard to find. What else can one determine from this weapon??

Not sure what else can be determined, Dale. But do you mean the Emperor and King Frederick III--the 100 days Kaiser?

    Lightbulb Kaiser Fritz more pix...

Greg and Guys; Note the well fitted scabbard, painted black, it once had both rings, the lower ring was ordered removed for Infantry Officers in 1902. In 1889, Officers who served under the last Kaiser were allowed to keep the IOD 1819 if they wished, but they had to obtain a metal scabbard and use the new suspension...Apparently this guy did. In 1908 the scabbards were required to be blackened...
