Turkish Military Sword or Masonic ?

    Hello
What are your thoughts on this sword?
    Is it Military or Masonic?
It has a ( what looks like a bear) stamped on it?
    30 inch blade
    Thank you very much
    Tony

My guess would be fraternal, but I really have no knowledge of this sword. The walking bear is a mark found on a lot of late 19th century M. C. Lilley Co swords with blades made by the Solingen firm WKC.

Fraternal. The Shriners use a phoenix headed scimitar and this one in the book. IIRC Grottoes of something or something of Grottoes. I'll look later.

    A handy reference.

So right at the start of the indexing, a mouthful

Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine

Page snippets from the above listed book. The book lists 9 examples, 6 with the crescent guard motif.
