    Need help to ID a long side weapon, possibly 19 th C. Belgian sappers / engineers....

    Hello, didn't post for a long time, but recently got this one in.
    It is quiet heavy, and marked under the grip with a capital "B" and a crown.
    The saw is exceptionally sharp.

    Just noticed a inscription on the back of the blade, but very hard to read. Here is my best pic;

    This looks like a French hybrid copy of a Marine artillery hilt with a Swiss Regiment Sappers blade.It proports to have been made by Coulaux aine & Cie around 1838 for the commercial market??.The quality of the brass casting and blade forging is a long way off those of the official patterns.It could be a reproduction?????...I'm inclined to think it is.

    Here's an original example of the brass hilt from 1792;
