    Help please ID origin this late 18th century silver hilt sabre

    Need help please ID country of origin of this fine quality silver hilted late 18th century sabre.
    No silver markings or blade engraving.
    Could it be French, Russian or Polish?

    Photos of the blade and any markings would greatly help. The deformation of the guard at the pommel suggests it being a softer metal, possibly solid silver, not plated with silver?

    The shape of the hilt reminds me of a Polish szabla. Does it have a thumb ring? Maybe it’s a magnate’s dress version.
