Guys: For our edification and pleasure, a Type 2 Japanese Bayonet. I found one that is almost new, with minor dings in the grips. These are somewhat rare, even in the US, where many were returned from the Pacific Theater of War. After examining several of these, one can see that this bayonet was sharpened before dipping in the bluing salt tank. This model is not made from the usual Type 30, rather it is a dedicated model with certain features that show this. The blade has a short ricasso and the makers' stamps are on top of the blade between the grips. The short fuller shows that this is made that way, rather than converted from the Type 30 blade. These were only made at Toyoda Automatic Loom Works under Nagoya Army Arsenal supervision, no other maker of this model has been noted.
