Scots Fusilier Guards Wilkinson sword 1864 of Hon SM Montgomerie

The sword of Hon Seton Montolieu Montgomerie. If not for an early death from diabetes at 37 he would have been Earl of Eglinton. Lieut 4 Nov 1864 Scots Fusilier Guards.
The sword is a Wilkinson # 13468 having a 33 inch long medium blade with a nice curve to it. Etched on the blade are nine battle honours, his initials SMM and the Scots Guards crest. The steel scabbard is leather lined with a German silver mouth.

    Will,
I always liked these early Guard's swords. How much does this one weigh with the 1" medium blade?

Mike it's 1 lb 8.5 oz. Quite a light and lively blade.

Will, what a wonderful sword; and to have the owner and history as well.
It is good to see some of the other Scottish used blades, and not just the basket hilts that we always associate with them.
    Best, Charlie
