It wouldnt hurt Cold Steel to get some guys "in the know" to do their test cutting videos for them.

I personally thought it was pretty interesting that they got Silent Bob to do the demo.

    Yep...

I found the sword work appalling...

I even watched some of the other cutting videos on the site.

    It didn't get any better.

yeah, the scarier thing is that they also produce instruction videos as well.

Not knowing anything about the proper useage of the broad or backswords, even I thought there was something seriously amiss with their cutting. I would love to see the video redone with people who know how to handle a sword to see the true potential.

I didn't notice a lot of footwork in that video...
It seems like the guy doing the cutting was relying on just the strength of his arm... it also looked like some of those melon cuts were scooped... not keeping the blade "on track" through the cuts. I think this is from Cold Steels DVD... which I thought was cool way back when I first saw it... then I thought... "hmmm...they're showing swords, cutting stuff up... that's what any sword is supposed to do. " Although the shots of them punching their stuff through car doors, bending them in a vise and what not was interesting... at least it showed a solid heat treat/temper.

    You guys are not kidding!

Marc MacYoung puts on a more impressive cutting display in his "surviving a street knife fight"

    A video/dvd I highly recomend!

No kissing up here but I hear that David Teague and his gang could do one!

    Hmmm... easier said than done.

While anybody can launch a video online with the tools available today...

It would cost some bucks to do a good video... Starting with a good quality "historic" sharp, the cost of the targets (meat's not cheap) and all of the other things needed to put of a professional job.

I don't have a sharp at this time, everything I own is blunted for living history or designed as a Safety blunt for WMA. I would like to have a sharp, but for a good Scottish Baskethilt made to LH specs it would take about 9 months to 14 months to get one made. Cost $ 500- $1200 depending on style.

Who wants to donate to the "See David cut meat with a sword" fund?

    Cheers,

I'll donate one piece of finest brisket- as delivered to me this morning from the Tudor living history smallholding that is up the road.

Is that enough to get you started?

    Thanks for sharing this, Louie!
If you take a at the links on the right side of the screen, you can also watch a demonstration of the 1796 which Cold Steel also offers.
I agree with you lads! It would be great to see the Right Most Honourable Sir David A. Teague of Anchorage cutting some meat with a broadsword!

I for one would be more than happy to plunk down some cash to see a proper demo. I know I can't be the only one.
